On the 111th Birth Anniversary of such renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan also known as Bachchan was an incredibly defined poet, whose words and thoughts galvanized many hearts with fine art and flair the man is still alive in many of our hearts. Born on 27th November 1907, in a Hindu Srivastava Kayastha family, in Allahabad, Harivansh Rai Bachchan was the great poet of the Nayi Kavita literary movement (romantic upsurge) of early 20th century Hindi literature.

Today on his ‘Triple One Birth Anniversary’, Laughing Colours brings you some of his best ever quotes, the man has written in his entire life.

1. PRATEEKSHA

“Madhur prateeksha hi jab itni, priye tum aate tab kya hota?”(When waiting is so sweet, I wonder how it would be had you actually come.)

2.YAHAN SAB KUCH BIKATA HAI

“Kabhi phulo ki tarah mat jina, jis din khiloge tutkar bikhar jaoge, jeena hai toh pattar ki tarah jio, ek din taraashe gaye to, bhagwan ban jaoge.” (Live not like a flower, you’ll disintegrate the day you blossom; live like a stone, for once when carved, you’ll be a form of god.)

3.AGNEEPATH

“Tu na thakega kabhi, tu na thamega kabhi, tu na mudega kabhi. Kar shapath! Kar shapath! Kar shapath! Agneepath! Agneepath! Agneepath!” (You will never be give up, you will never stop, and you will never look back. Make an oath to yourself.)

4.MADHUSHALA

“Chahe jitna tu pee pyala, chahe jitna tu ban matwala, sun bhed batati hun antim, yeh shaant nahi hoga jwala, main madhushala ki madhubala.” (No matter how much you drink, no matter how carefree you act; let me tell you a secret, the fire within you won’t die, I am Madhushala’s Madhubala.)

5.HIMMAT KARNE WALO KI HAAR NAHI HOTI

“Jab tak safal na ho, neend chain ko tyaago tum. Sangharsh ka maidaan chhodh kar mat bhaago tum. Kuch kiye bina hi jai jai kaar nahi hoti, koshish karne walo ki kabhi haar nahi hoti.” (Until you succeed, sacrifice your comforts and sleep. Don’t run away from the battlefield of struggle. Without an effort, you can’t win accolades, people who try never really lose.)
