Millions of women participated in 620 km-long Women’s Wall which was organized by the Kerala government. The wall stretched from the northern tip of the state in Kasaragod to the southern end in Thiruvananthapuram against the religious conservatives who have been opposing the Supreme Court verdict that allowed the entry of menstruating women in Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala.

With such a step taken by the women, all the conservative organizations and sections of the society including political parties will recognize that society in India has changed on a dynamic phase. Gender minorities cannot be held responsible in the name of some conservative traditional beliefs that are nowhere written in history.

These forces by the communal forces against an entry in Sabarimala had prompted government and other progressive organizations to conceive the idea of Women’s Wall in the state. The Pinarayi Vijayan government must be allowed to implement it without threats of violence and disruption of law and order of the state.

In just 24 hours, 5 million women lined up to the streets of Kerala to uphold the gender equality issue. Moreover, Sunil Joseph who is a member of the Guinness International jury told that the Women’s Wall is likely to find a space in the Guinness International chain of women.
