Sharjah-based NRI Farmer Sudheesh Guruvayoor wins the Guinness Book of World Records Title

On World Environment Day, Sharjah-based agriculturist Sudheesh Guruvayoor created record after winning the most coveted Guinness World Record title.

The hardworking farmer attained the objective of distributing the maximum number of plantlets ever distributed all over the globe with 5000 curry leaf plant plantlets.

The 5000 curry leaf plant plantlets got distributed amongst the pupils of Sharjah Indian School on July 04 morning.

The authorized Guinness World Record endeavour on July 03 was also prearranged to match up with the Year of Zayed observation in the nation.

In a special Facebook post about his special title, he wrote, “My life’s dream has come true with what happened. The fact this record coincides with the Year of Zayed as well as World Environment Day makes it even sweeter.”  

Guruvayoor belongs to the south-Indian state of Kerala and is an electrical engineer turned farmer residing in Sharjah since the year 1997.

Guruvayoor is not new to special records as well as honours, all of it in raising plants in the habitually intolerant desertic soil with pioneering proposals and uphill struggle.

In the year 2012, he got an entry in the coveted Limca Book of Records by raising the longest okra (41.91cm/16.5 inches) right in his garden. He also possesses a Limca record for having the ‘smallest okra plant (3.81cm) with shells threefold longer as compared to the plant’.

He also has fruitfully formed a paddy and wheat field at the back side of his residence in Sharjah.

Guruvayoor’s rice cultivation effort in the year 2014 was backed up by his then-boss, Sharjah Electrical and Water Authority. In the year 2016, he introduced his paddy ground to pupils from three Indian schools in the nation to enjoy their first rice yield festival in exact Kerala style.

In addition, Guruvayoor also grows a variety of veggies for his family’s use in the same region.
