After delivering a mind-boggling performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh has landed another interesting project. The talented actor is all set to step into the shows of ace cricketer Kapil Dev. Ranveer will be playing the titular of Dev in his biopic. The movie has been in news since a long time now.
Well, the film is surely going to witness some important aspects of Kapil Dev’s life and so there will be some important characters played by well-known faces.
The latest one to join the star cast of 83 is versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Yes, you heard it right! Nawaz has been quite a master in playing different kinds of roles and it is a great opportunity to be a part of such a great project.
As per the reports, Nawazuddin will portray the role of Ranveer’s coach in the film.
The biopic will be helmed by Kabir Khan who has previously directed films like Ek Tha Tiger, Tubelight, Bajrangi Bhaijaan among others.
In one of his interviews, Kabir had shared about his thoughts on making a sports biopic and said, “I had no idea then that from that day on cricket in India would change forever. As a filmmaker, the journey to that win, filled with the raw energy and sheer passion of a young Indian team, is probably one of the most exciting stories I have worked on.”
The movie is currently in the initial stages of filming. The film will be slated for August 2019 release.
While this is Kabir and Ranveer’s first collaboration, Nawazuddin has previously worked with Kabir in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Nawaz won several accolades for his role in the movie.
Ranveer and Nawaz are both a powerhouse of talent and has proved their acting skills in many of thenir movies. We are really looking forward to this project. The female lead of the film is yet to be finalized and announced by the makers.
On the work front, after Padmaavat, Ranveer will be seen in Gully Boy opposite Alia Bhatt. The film is directed Zoya Akhtar. He will also be seen in Simmba opposite newbie Sara Ali Khan. The film is being directed by Golmaal fame director Rohit Shetty and is slated for December 2018 release.
