Karnataka teacher becomes driver to see children attend school

Tutors are the main factors behind any change and a teacher from the state of Karnataka has been a big case of the same.

Coping with restricted resources, when an administration educational institution couldn’t manage to pay for a driver, the physical education tutor made his mind to perform the task of the school-bus driver with the intention that the pupils would not look for admission elsewhere.

The teacher named Rajaram did all this to restrain the drop-out rate among pupils.

The teacher in Barali Government Higher Primary School situated in the vicinity of the Bramhavar city in Udupi region, Karnataka came to know that the parents of the kids favoured sending children to an educational institution, which offers transportation facility. A lot of pupils had been shifting to private institutions owing to the identical reason.

Because their educational institution didn’t boast of a school bus, he took a big decision himself and that too is worthwhile.

Rajaram hunted assistance from old pupils’ union and they paid money for a mini-bus in the year 2017.

Getting a bus did not answer their problem. There were other matters comprising its preservation, repairs and hiring a driver who will demand a steady pay.

So, the devoted tutor made his mind to drive the bus himself.

As the teacher told the media people, “Since I stay close to school, I decided to take up the responsibility of driving the school mini-bus. This way, the student’s safety is also taken care of and the dropout rate is also under control.”

After the educational institution started running the bus, the total number of pupils augmented to 90 from 60.

In addition, the great teacher Rajaram drives the bus, and he also teaches the pupils Science and Maths as the educational institution doesn’t have enough staff.

As the Headmistress of School Kusuma told media people, “The school has four teachers and Rajaram is one of the most dedicated staff. This is the second year that he has been working as a driver-cum-PT teacher. In case he applies for leave, he makes it a point to see that school trips are not affected.”
