I said no to my desired Bollywood directors as they want me to do films without turban: Diljit Dosanjh

Well-known Punjabi singer, actor, host and judge Diljit Dosanjh, says that ‘turban’ is his real identity and he respects it.

The great personality made a foray in the Hindi film industry with a super hit flick Udta Punjab and turned out to be the viewer’s favourite actor with his purity.

The multi-talented personality showcases his pure form as he doesn’t like putting on a mask. Yes, we have a proof.

When the super hit personality was questioned that why he has been so particular about working in Bollywood flicks, he answered “I don’t do much films in Bollywood because nothing substantial has been offered to me, I get offers but I feel even if I don’t play this role someone else will, it won’t make a difference. Even now my most favourite directors from Bollywood have offered me films which I cannot do because they want me to do it without turban and that’s not possible. Turban is my identity, it’s my emotion.”

The forthcoming flick of Diljit is Soorma, in which he will be witnessed playing the character of a strange man Sandeep Singh.

But, at first, Singh was not sure about doing the biographical movie, “I was reluctant because I never played hockey in my life. But I was convinced because of the story. I don’t think we have ever heard a story like this in India. A man who was on a wheelchair, he fought back became a captain and made a world record. I mean what kind of willpower one requires to do such a heroic thing. I don’t think a man like Sandeep will ever be born again. I am proud to play him onscreen. “

Diljit also said, “I never played a sport in my life. I always had an interest in music, so I never thought I can do a sports biopic. When an actor pretends to play a guitar, I feel very bad because I know he is acting. Similarly, I was skeptical that will I look good playing hockey because I have never done that. But I had to say yes because living legend Sandeep taught me hockey and everything became easy.”

Diljit was questioned how tricky was it for him to don the role of Sandeep, and in his truthful response, he stated that he is not aware of acting at all as he is not an actor.
