In April 2018, Genelia Deshmukh started shooting of her most challenging Marathi movie Mauli that will feature her husband, Riteish Deshmukh.

“Rooted in the musical action drama genre, Mauli is one of the most ambitious films produced by us at Mumbai Film Company,” Genelia Deshmukh stated in a press release.

Earlier there were reports that the movie will be helmed by ace personality Aditya Sarpotdar of Faster Fene fame.

Riteish stated that the actress is just the perfect choice to play the character.

“We were looking for a fresh face to cast in Mauli and we found that in Saiyami. She is young, vivacious and fits the character of a firebrand Marathi mulgi to the tee. We are extremely excited to collaborate with her and looking forward to working with her,” he said.
