Athletes Mary Kom and Gaurav Solanki wins gold at Common Wealth Games 2018

India’s first ever women Boxer M.C. Mary Kom is a legend. She became the first boxer of India who claimed gold in Commonwealth Games with a weight of 48 kgs. She was later joined by Gaurav Solanki who weighs 52 kgs reaching on top finishers group after conducting the first set of finals held on Saturday.  Others like Amit Panghal with weight 49 kgs and Manish Kaushal with weight 60 kgs won Silver for Indi in their respective game play. Among all, the star of the event is undoubtedly Mary Kom who has made her debut in the famous Commonwealth games.

She gave such a spectacular performance which made her win Gold for the country. This is said to be the last and last debut of Mary Kom in Common Wealth Games. Her performance is what calls for her victory and she had a vivacious score 5-0 over the Northern Ireland’s Kristina O’ Hara.  In the finals, Mary gave a strong competition with great spirit and is very happy enjoying the victory.

In her recent interview, Mary said, “I am so glad to have made history again; it is a special feeling to win something that is a milestone medal. I am just so glad. This medal and each one of my medals is special to me because I have worked equally hard for them. And I will continue to do so till the time my body is fit.”  Making India Proud, Mary has created a benchmark for herself setting a huge competition. She is a true hero. In the match of ring, Mary had enjoyed the match and gave her best.

Talking about the completion held between men, Gaurav won the victory with a score 4-1 over the Northern Ireland’s Brendan Irvine. He lost in the third round but the win in first and second round covered the score making him win gold for India and making the nation proud.  The luck was is a true favor and their hard work paid off well. It’s a great honour for our country.

On the other side, luck seemed to not favor Amit and Manish who fell short and won Silver for India. With huge disappointment with the results, the two promises to stand out with great determination and win gold for India in next games.  Great win for India and it’s time to feel proud and happy of the victory.
