The latest update for the Essential PH-1 brings the April security patch from Google. Additionally, the 127MB OTA update brings modem stability fixes, improved performance, general bug squashing, external game controller support, and Bluetooth 5.0 certification.

Bluetooth 5.0 brings support for simultaneous dual-streaming, extended range for compatible Bluetooth accessories, and twice the bandwidth of Bluetooth 4.2. Bluetooth 5.0 also prepares the phone for future IoT connectivity and improves location services.

The Essential Phone is already on the most recent version of Android Oreo 8.1.
